One would think that it is common etiquette to RSVP, but many are wondering if the days of the RSVP are long gone.  More than not these days those four little letters go unnoticed leaving party hostesses scratching their heads and biting their nails before the big event.

Thankfully, there are several ways that you can encourage your guests to RSVP.

Here are a few tips to make sure that you get the response you need when sending out invites.

1.  Send them out on time.

You can’t blame guests for not responding if you send out your invites right before the event.  That is why it is important to send them out well in advance.  Of course, this time varies by the event type. For company picnics, as soon as you have a date and time, send out a save-the-date.  To get the best turnout, at least eight weeks notice is recommended.  In addition to invites, post flyers around your workplace and send out reminder e-mails leading up to the event.

2.  Utilize an online invitation service.

Online invitations such as Evite are much easier for guest to RSVP to and perfect for company picnics.  Facebook events work great too, however not everyone is on that platform.  Most of these online services are free, so you can even send them in addition to a paper invite with no extra cost.

3.  Provide alternate ways to RSVP.

Instead of just responding by phone, provide e-mail addresses or even a website where guests can RSVP (e-vites make this easy!).  You can even include “Text or Call [phone number] to respond.”  Many guests might hesitate to text at first, but if it is clearly stated on the invitation then they will find it okay.  In a workplace setting, you can even have an RSVP form where they can respond. Remember, the point is to get the responses no matter how they do it.

4.  Make the RSVP date prominent and urgent.

On many invitations, the reply date is tiny and in the corner where it is easily overlooked or seems unimportant.  Choose to make the date prominent on the invite.  It is also a good idea to provide a date as well as a sense of urgency to RSVP’ing.  For example, instead of just “Please RSVP” say “Please respond by June 11th so there isn’t a BBQ shortage!”  Our brains respond to scarcity, so phrases like this are more likely to get a response.

5.  Provide an incentive for those that RSVP early.

People love to win things.  Phrases like “The first 25 people to RSVP will win a $25 gift card” or “RSVP by July 8th to get entered into the drawing to win a flat screen TV!” provide a great incentive.

Now that you don’t have any worries about getting your guest to RSVP, it’s time to book your event at Faulkner’s Ranch! Check out our 2018 Picnic Package Flyers, then give us a call today to see how we can make your dream party come true!

Faulkner’s Ranch in Kansas City, Missouri is all about bringing people together and our company picnics are a perfect way to do just that.

Not sure a company picnic is right for your group? We’ve seen them in action and we know just how beneficial they can be for a company. Here are a few reasons company picnics are a must for your business.

Company Picnics Rejuvenate the Workplace

Everyone needs a day off from time to time. A company picnic is the perfect way to get your team outside and remind them what it is that makes your company special. Employees will not only return to work feeling rejuvenated, but they will also have a greater sense of appreciation and newfound motivation for the work they are doing.

Teamwork Makes the Dream Work

We all know how important teamwork is in the workplace. By getting to know their co-workers better, employees are more inclined to ask the right questions and work in a way that makes your company more efficient and enjoyable as a whole.

Company picnics are also a great way to bond with other departments and build an appreciation for all they do. These events give employees the chance to network with people in a variety of different roles throughout the company that they may not have the opportunity to do on a daily basis.

Company Picnics Celebrate Your Successes

Company Picnics are the perfect time to celebrate your employees by showing your appreciation for their work.  Handing out awards, acknowledging those who have gone above and beyond, and sharing success stories are the perfect way to do just that.  Simple things like door prizes and awards for picnic contests are another way to celebrate your team.

Plus, having your employees all in one place gives different departments a chance to see each other’s successes.  Overall, company picnics are a great time celebrate those successes company wide.

Company Picnics Are a Family Affair

Company Picnics are the perfect opportunity to include your employees’ families.  At Faulkner’s Ranch there are activities for all ages.  From toddlers to grandparents, your guests will have something fun and memorable to take part in. By including these special people, it gives them an added appreciation for their loved one’s career.

Do It Right & Have It for Life

Company picnics are a great way to incorporate tradition into an environment where dynamics are ever-changing. Creating a tradition throughout your workplace is a great way to integrate new team members, while giving longtime employees the chance to celebrate their hard work and success.

In order to keep the tradition alive, it’s crucial to make sure your first company picnic, and every one after that, goes off without a hitch. Faulkner’s Ranch has all the details covered with our various company picnic packages so that all you have to do is sit back, relax and enjoy. Leave it up to our party professionals to ensure that your event is one that your employees will be talking about all year long.

Team Building at Faulkner's Ranch
On December 6th we welcomed back the Sprinkler Fitters Local #314 for their annual holiday party!
We had so much fun partying with them last year, so we were thrilled that they once again chose Faulkner’s Ranch to celebrate.
After spending just a little bit of time with them, it is clear that this group LOVES to get together.  It’s no wonder since they go the extra mile to make their events special for their employees.  One aspect of their event that made it extra special was that not only do they include current employees and their families, but they also included retirees from the union as well.  How awesome is that?! That right there is TRUE employee appreciation!
It created a wonderful atmosphere!
Fun for ALL ages!
After enjoying a traditional turkey lunch buffet (yum!),
the Sprinkler Fitters were visited by none other than Jolly Old St. Nick himself!
One of our favorite parts of holiday events is when Santa visits and guests get to take photos with him in our beautiful antique sleigh.  The kiddos at this party were all decked out in adorable holiday finery, so were are sure that many of these photos ended up in family greeting cards or on the fireplace mantle.  You gotta love when company parties create memories that will last a lifetime!
Of course, no visit to Faulkner’s is complete without seeing the stars of the Ranch – our animals!  Even though it was a crisp day, our guests stayed warm and toasty in our heated petting farm barn.  Our party animals sure loved the extra attention!
We are so glad that Sprinkler Fitters chose Faulkner’s Ranch once again as their party venue! It means so much to us when we become part of a tradition, especially when it is with a fantastic company and group of people!

It is always such a huge compliment when a group chooses to return to Faulkner’s Ranch for their company picnic.  Especially in consecutive years! So, of course, we were thrilled when Multi Service Corporation chose to once again celebrate their employees with us!
A beautiful day for a picnic!
This group is such a blast to host!  Not only are they just super fun people, but they always choose to add on the coolest extras to their parties.
One super special amenity that they added this year was the Kona Ice truck!
Kona Ice is a great addition to a summer picnic because not only is it delicious, but it also helps your guests to beat the heat.  You can choose from a variety of flavors.  We like to mix them up – our favorite combo this year is strawberry banana.
Every age loves Kona Ice!
This year they also had some fun with airbrush tattoos. Let us tell ya folks, kids, tweens, and teens think that these are the coolest things ever! It’s like face-painting with a bit of an edge.
Another fun addition to this year’s picnic was soaker hose limbo.  The picture pretty much explains it all.
So much fun!
The kids (and let’s be honest, the adults too) also really enjoyed our pedal karts.
Did you know that you can even fish at the ranch?  Guests are always excited to try their hand with our cane poles.  They are nothin’ fancy, but they work! Especially at this picnic – the fish were biting! We do all catch and release so once these big guys are caught, they go back into the pond to keep on swimmin’.
If you weren’t fishing at this picnic then you may have been found playing volleyball.  Our sand volleyball court is always sure to spark up some nice little competition.
This year, Multi Service also chose to bring back the casino tables that they had last year.  These were a huge hit so their employees were really excited to see that they were available again.
Multi Service also had the most intense kickball tournament that we have ever seen.
Of course, they offered some awesome door prizes throughout the day, like this Smokey Joe Grill.  Nothing puts the icing on a fun company picnic like going home with a prize!
Thanks again to Multi Service for coming back to Faulkner’s Ranch!  We loved working with you to create a picnic that once again was fun for everyone!

A couple of weeks ago the awesome folks of McDonald’s joined us at Faulkner’s Ranch for their Wet and Wild Company Picnic!
The Wet and Wild Package is one of our four exclusive company picnic packages.  McDonald’s went all out with the activities and we were lovin’ it! (get it?!).
Seriously y’all, this picnic was SO MUCH FUN!
I mean, can we just talk about this awesomeness?!
This is the Surf the Wave Slip’n’Slide Inflatable.  Needless to say, it was such a huge hit with everyone!
But wait, there’s more! Check out this super-fun game.  It’s called Downpour Derby!
Downpour Derby is a one-of-a-kind water game where people of any age pump water as fast as they can to fill the bucket over their opponent’s head! The faster you pump, the sooner you tip the “downpour bucket” on the other person. A “tie” is lots of fun too! This game provides fantastic soaking fun for hot weather parties and special events – it’s a must have for any Wet and Wild Picnic.
McDonald’s also continued the Wet and Wild theme with a good ole fashioned game of leaky bucket and our dunk tank.
In addition to our Wet and Wild activities, their employees also enjoyed our other ranch activities such as the corn cannon, zip-line, cow milking, petting farm, and more!
McDonald’s also celebrated their employees by giving away some awards and recognitions.  Some of these folks have worked at McDonald’s for 41 years – pretty amazing!  There were lots of promotions to celebrate too and what a better place to do that then the company picnic!
Thanks once again to McDonald’s for choosing Faulkner’s Ranch!  We had a blast with you guys!

On Friday, May 2nd, forty-one awesome folks from Catapult International,  an international shipping software development company, joined us for a team-building extravaganza!

This was an amazing and inspiring group to have at the ranch.
For an idea on what they do, just check out this video:

Near the end of the video, Matt Motsick, one of the owners talks about their company culture.  He says, “We want to make sure we have happy employees because when you have happy employees you have a great amount of success.”
It was so apparent throughout the planning process leading up to their event that they truly do care about their employees.  He, along with Bryan Luttrell, have created such a positive work environment for their group and it showed when they were all together at the ranch.
Most of the guests were out-of-towners, mainly from California, so they were excited to get in touch with their inner-country side. The international attendees were especially excited to get a taste of KC BBQ and to enjoy some real Midwest activities.
They arrived on buses ready for fun!  After a warm welcome by their Ranch J, Ted, they enjoyed a delicious lunch.  The menu included pulled pork, brisket of beef with all the fixins, and much more.  So delicious!
After lunch, they were able to partake in some of our Ranch Rec activities such as horse shoes, washers, and tic-tac-toilet seat.  Following the games, they had a short meeting with some recognitions and awards.  For events like this, it is always nice to alternate between business and fun because it helps keep your employees energy up.

After the meeting, it was time to get down to some real business with Ranch Chores!
It was such a blast watching them do the team-building activities.  After all, most of the attendees were IT or sales that work out of their homes, so many of them didn’t know each other well.  What a better way to get to know your fellow employees than with some cow-milkin’, roller-ropin, tug-of-war, and more!  Winners of the games went home with some awesome gift cards.

Throughout the chores there was a bar available and half-way through we provided a snack of cheese, crackers, and trail mix.

See that cowboy milking the cow?  He is one of the two founders of the company.  Christine got the chance to talk to him briefly after the event about his story and the journey that he went on to build this global company from scratch.  He said it was a huge leap of faith, but that it takes assembling assembling the right people in the right places to succeed.  Needless to say, we were very proud and honored to work with them here.
Thanks again to Catapult for choosing Faulkner’s Ranch!  You guys really are an inspiration!

On June 19th we had a HUGE company picnic for the American Academy of Family Physicians for 800 people.
We were so excited to have them return to the ranch.  Not only because they wore these awesome t-shirts…
…but also because they didn’t let a little rain spoil their fun!
Thankfully it didn’t start to rain until the very end of the party when most of the guests had already left.  So, we took the opportunity to play in the rain with a fun game of water balloon toss.  All of our amazing Ranch Hands even participated.
Speaking of our Ranch Hands, they are amazing.  For those that don’t know exactly what a Ranch Hand is, they are trained to assist at each of our ranch specialties from the zip-line to the mechanical bull and more.  It goes without saying that we couldn’t have the events that we do without them.  Their behind the scenes efforts, friendly faces, and hard work are what make our events run smoothly.
On the day of this picnic, we had 27 ranch hands.  They were so excited to cool off with a fun game of water balloon toss with our guests.
After all, work hard, play hard!
Can you spot Cowboy Bob?
We are so lucky to be able to work with such fun people! They really are the best!

Thanks again to the American Academy of Family Physicians for once again choosing Faulkner’s Ranch!  We hope to see you again in another two years!

Last year we were blown away by Shick’s employee and guest appreciation at their Annual Shick-nic (you can read all about it right here). Well, this year they outdid themselves once again!  Seriously, their employees are so lucky to work for such a cool company!
This year they chose our brand new Country Fair Picnic Package and pulled out all the stops.
First things first, let’s just start with their awesome t-shirts.  Having a shirt specifically for your picnic is a great way to get people pumped about the event.  Plus, they look great in photos!
Speaking of photos, one great idea that they had was to provide a photo-op.
They had a professional photographer here to take family photos.  Isn’t that awesome?  This is such a great way to show your employees that you not only appreciate them, but the families that support them as well.
Shick went all out with the Country Fair theme.  Of course, no country fair would be complete without some funnel cakes and cotton candy.
YUM!
The yummy treats didn’t stop there. They also had a dessert competition!
The winner for Best Presentation was awarded a $25 gift card to Hy-Vee.
There were some pretty creative (and delicious) cupcakes in the house…
But the Cotton Candy Cupcakes were the grand prize winner!
Our beloved caricature artist, Dean the Machine, was also there to sketch up the guests.
He was a big hit!  Plus, it gave the guests yet another keepsake from the event to take home.
Shick also chose to have a face-painter – that was fun of all ages!
There was a little bit of rain that day, but that didn’t stop everyone from enjoying the ranch activities. We had everything in full swing from our ranch recreation to the duck pond to the zip-line to skee-ball and the mechanical bull (under cover, of course.)
After all, duck races are perfect for a rainy day!
There was even a huge inflatable obstacle course for the kiddos to enjoy!
Our friendly petting farm animals were there too.
Not to mention that they had the most epic egg toss we have ever seen – and we have seen A LOT of egg tosses, folks!
Of course, no Shick-nic would be complete without their Bingo Tradition.  During this they did fun Shick-nic trivia and gave away prizes galore.  Did you know that their picnic tradition spans back to the 1970’s?!
A huge thanks to Shick for once again choosing Faulkner’s Ranch! You guys are AWESOME!

Our 2014 Picnic Season has just begun and boy, are we already having a blast!
We are so lucky to have the BEST of the BEST clients.  They’re always fun and ready to have a good time.  Summit Technical Solutions is no exception.  This group was SO much fun!
After all, it’s not just any picnic that has their own car show!
That’s right! During the picnic, guests got to display their hot rides.  Picnic goers got to vote on their favorite to win the 1st place prize of a $75 gift card!  How do you even choose among these?

The car show wasn’t the only exciting thing that happened.  They also took place in our Mini Rodeo (part of our Wild Western Picnic Package)!  They got pretty competitive with the cow milking contest, ranch frisbee, water balloon toss, and a fan-favorite, the Roller Roper.
Got ’em!

The rest of the party was spent enjoying some delicious food and our ranch amenities.

We’re so glad that we got to kick off our Picnic Season with these awesome people!  Thanks again to Summit Tech for choosing Faulkner’s Ranch!
